Medical Only Travel Insurance

Taking out medical coverage only allows you to claim for medical only out of pocket costs whilst travelling overseas

Medical only travel insurance

Sometimes when you're shopping around for basic medical only travel insurance, you'll find policies loaded with things you don’t want or need.

Perhaps you’re taking only what you can carry with you on a backpacking trip, or going on a short holiday to somewhere familiar.

Why cover expensive luggage and personal belongings if you aren’t taking anything of value? Or pay extra to cover travel delays if you're flying direct and staying in one destination for your whole trip?

If you just want a medical-only policy to cover emergency medical and hospital expenses, without all the extra bells and whistles, Fast Cover has created a policy just for you.

Our Basics medical only travel insurance provides cover to protect travellers during overseas medical emergencies and hospital expenses, with the option of adding on luggage cover if you need it.

Fast and simple!

Who should get Basics travel insurance?

Accidents do happen, and medical expenses can quickly add up to the tens of thousands of dollars overseas.

The Australian Government Department of Affairs and Trade reports that a medical evacuation from Bali could set you back around $60,000 AUD, and if you get injured or sick in the United States, you can expect hospital bills starting at $5,000 USD per night!

Travellers who should consider purchasing Basics travel insurance include:

For travellers looking to supplement existing cover you have from other insurance such as through your credit card provider, for example, a medical-only policy like our Basics cover can be a good option if you’re not completely confident with what they offer.

The travel insurance can help to fill in the gaps after you've claimed what you can from your credit card insurer.

Example Incidents~

Marge’s Medical Expenses

Marge visited a doctor in Dubai after her flight, suffering from pain and swelling in her thighs. She was sent for an ultrasound which revealed a superficial blood clot in her upper leg. As it was not related to a pre-existing condition, her Fast Cover policy covered the $1,300 AUD medical bill.

Warren's Watery Woes

Warren and his wife Laurel from Wollongong were on a cruise in the Pacific Islands celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary when Warren slipped on the wet decking and injured his hip. Fortunately, they had taken out a Fast Cover travel insurance policy at the same time as booking their flights and accommodation. The travel insurance policy cost less than $280 and provided cover for almost $24,000 AUD worth of medical treatment and their return home under medical supervision.
