Covered Sports and Activities
We can provide cover for the activities listed below - some are automatically covered, while some require you to add on a specific pack or to select the activity when you purchase your policy.
Depending on the activity that you're planning on doing, you may need to add or choose more than one pack and/or activity type for your travel insurance policy.
It's possible that if what you wish to do isn't on the list, or you don't purchase the appropriate pack or policy type, then there's no cover for that activity.

Under appropriate supervision

With a licensed commercial operator up to 15 nautical miles off any land mass (for 1 or more overnight stays in Australia or 4 or more nights overseas on a cruise ship, you must specify cruise cover).

You must hold an open water diving licence recognised in Australia or dive with an instructor licensed for these activities; (for 1 or more overnight stays in Australia or 4 or more nights overseas on a cruise ship, you must specify cruise cover).

Expeditions to or on the Kokoda Track/Trail are not covered. Choose the Adventure Pack option for higher altitudes and Kokoda expeditions.
Rental vehicle insurance excess cover only
But not competitions, equestrian events, steeple chasing, jumping, or polo.
But not including competitive skating, racing, speed skating, and tour skating.

Must be with a licensed operator, no competition or racing, no stunts or jumping off ramps.
Meaning any activities involving minimal physical exertion that is undertaken for relaxation or pleasure. For example, sight-seeing, picnics, photography and museum or art gallery visits.

You must wear a helmet; you must hold a current Australian Driver's Licence (Provisional or higher) and a licence valid for the country you are riding in and the engine displacement must be no greater than 50cc.

- If you are the rider of a motorcycle, moped or scooter with an engine capacity of 50cc or less you must hold a current Australian Driver's Licence (Provisional or higher) and a licence valid for the country that you are riding in.
- If you are the rider of a motorcycle, moped or scooter with an engine capacity greater than 50cc you must hold a current Australian Motorcycle Licence (Provisional or higher) valid for the same class of motorcycle, regardless of the local laws and a licence valid for the country that you are riding in.
- If you hold a Provisional Australian Driver's or Motorcycle Licence you must comply with the restrictions of this type of license, regardless of the local laws.
- You must wear a helmet.
- If you are the passenger on a motorcycle, moped or scooter the person in control must hold a current licence (Provisional or higher) valid for the same class of motorcycle, moped or scooter that is valid for the country that you are riding in.
Only with a licensed commercial operator and ropes and appropriate safety gear but not free solo climbing.

Only single rider and no jumping, racing or competition.
Choose the Adventure Pack option for rivers or rapids graded IV or V under the International Scale of River Difficulty.

Motorcycles & Mopeds
Need cover for riding a motorcycle, moped or scooter? Add the Motorcycle Pack to your policy.
For motorcycles, you’ll need a current Australian motorcycle licence, but there’s no limit on the engine size. If you’re riding mopeds and scooters, provided the engine capacity is 50cc or under, a current Australian drivers licence will be fine.
Whatever you’re riding, you also still need to adhere to the licensing requirements for the country you're travelling in.

Cruising the Oceans
It’s one of our most popular holiday options, but can also be one of our most expensive if you get sick or injured. Whether you’re just cruising our local waters or checking out the polar bears in Alaska, if you have a cruise policy and have a life threatening emergency, we’ll help you get back to shore ASAP.

Skiing & Snowboarding Overseas
Snow sports are exciting and fun, but come with their own risks. So if you’re planning on going overseas to ski, choosing our Snow Sports Plus policy will provide additional cover for:
- Snow specific Emergency Medical Assistance
- Snow specific Emergency Medical and Hospital Expenses
- Your Snow sport equipment
- The cost of your prepaid passes, equipment hire and lessons if you get injured or sick
- Snow resort closure, bad weather or avalanche

Trekking to 3,000 metres
If you’re going walking, hiking, trekking or tramping and don’t need specialist climbing equipment, our policies will cover you for those activities.

Trekking to 6,000 metres
Get our Adventure pack if you’re doing a more specialised trek up to a maximum of 6,000 m and don’t need specialist climbing equipment, or going on the Kokoda trail.

Running & Playing sport
As long as you’re not playing and competing professionally, you’re covered under our policies.
You are covered for:
- Racing on foot for distances up to and including full marathon (42.2 km)
- Track and Field athletics
- Racquet and ball sports not involving physical contact

If you're doing contact sports (including any form of rugby, Australian Rules football or American football), just get our special Adventure pack added onto your policy, and you'll be right to go.

Scuba Diving to 10 metres
As long as you dive to a depth no greater than 10 metres and you have an open water diving licence recognised in Australia or dive with a licensed instructor, you’re good to go.

If you plan to dive up to a maximum depth of 30 metres, our Adventure pack will make sure that if you get in a bit of trouble, you can get the help you need.
